I am giving general procedure here to Change DNS settings of Windows 7 with Screenshots. Steps maybe similar for other versions of windows but may vary greatly for different OS like Mac or Linux.
Changing your DNS server settings:
Step 1:
Open "Network and Sharing center"
1) via "Control Panel" : Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center
or
2) via clicking on network icon in Notification area
Step 2:
After opening "Network and Sharing center" click on "Change adapter settings" in left sidebar menu.

Step 3:
Right click on the network you wanna modify and click on "Properties".

Right Click and choose properties
Step 4:
On the popped up window under "This connection uses the following items", select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties"

Step 5:
Again on the new popped up window, Under the "General" tab select the "Use the following DNS server addresses" radio button, and enter your prefered DNS server address.
